Frequently Asked Questions
how long do lash extensions last?
Lash extensions typically last 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle (yep, your lashes shed naturally with or without eyelash extensions no matter what) and how well you care for them. To keep them looking full and fresh, we recommend getting a fill every 2 to 3 weeks. Proper aftercare—like avoiding oil-based products, steam, and rubbing your eyes—will help your lashes last as long as possible. To help you get the best lasting lashes, we have lash extensions safe products to use around your eye area available in our shop.
do lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
Nope! When applied correctly by a trained professional, lash extensions won’t damage your natural lashes. We use the right weight and length to keep your lashes healthy. Damage usually happens from improper aftercare—like rubbing your eyes or pulling at your extensions. Treat them right, and your natural lashes will stay strong.
can I wear mascara with lash extensions?
Lash extensions are made to replace mascara, so you won’t need it! But if you really want to, only use a water-based, extension-safe mascara on classic lashes—never on volume or mega volume sets. Avoid waterproof formulas since they contain oils that break down the adhesive. We carry the best lash extensions safe mascara for your bottom lashes and to use in between fills with Luxe Classic Lash Extensions.
how do I take care of my lash extensions?
Taking care of your lashes is easy! Just follow these simple steps:
• Most other lash artists insist on keeping lashes dry for the first 24-48 hours after your appointment. But not with Lavish Esthetics. We make sure your lash adhesive has already cured so they will not be harmed by water. Additionally, when we cure the adhesive at the end of your appointment it removes any irritants.
• Clean them daily with an oil-free lash cleanser. That is why we gift you The Lash Cleanser and and a brush with each full set appointment. The Lash Cleanser/ TLC is available in our shop.
• Avoid oil-based products and creams around your eyes.
• No rubbing, pulling, or sleeping face-down. We gift a lash extensions safe sleep mask to help protect your lashes while you sleep.
• Book a fill every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking fresh! We don’t have same day availability, so be sure to plan ahead.
can I get lash extensions if I have sensitive eyes?
Yes! If you have sensitive eyes, just let us know before your appointment. Our treatments are designed to minimize irritation. If you’re unsure, we can also do a patch test beforehand to make sure you’re good to go.
what’s the difference between classic, hybrid, and volume lashes?
• Classic: A natural, mascara-like look (one extension per natural lash).
• Hybrid: A mix of classic and volume for a soft, textured look.
• Volume: A fluffy, dramatic look using lightweight fans.
Not sure which one to choose? We’ll help you pick the perfect style during your appointment! We typically recommend what closely mimics your daily makeup style.
can I swim or shower with lash extensions?
Yes! Your lashes are water-resistant! Just pat them dry gently and avoid excessive steam or rubbing. And be sure to use The Lash Cleanser after swimming to remove the salts from chlorinated or salt water pools/ocean. Avoid steamy, high temperature showers, or wear a pair of goggles to prevent the steam from weakening the adhesive keeping your eyelash extensions in place and lasting longer. The same advice goes for hot tub usage.
what should I do before my lash appointment?
For the best results, here’s what to do before your appointment:
• Arrive with clean, makeup-free lashes (no mascara, eyeliner, or eye creams). Any residue will prevent your lashes from lasting as long as possible.
• Skip the caffeine—this helps minimize eye fluttering. It’s hard to get long lasting lashes when we are applying lashes to a moving target.
• If you wear contacts, you might want to remove them before your appointment.
